33 years!

Yesterday Phil and I celebrated 33 years of marriage.  It was a very low key celebration.  We went to Boston Pizza with Brian for dinner.  During the day we ran errands and did some shopping.  All in all we had a good day.  On Friday Phil had flowers delivered to my office for all to enjoy and we are enjoying them here at home this weekend.  I bought him a banked track for his road race set.  And that is how we have celebrated 33 years!

On Becoming A Grandmother

Wow!  It is about to happen - sometime in the next 12 hours (my own estimate) I will become a Grandma.  Tanya has been working hard all day - contracting and contracting.

This event - a major live event for all involved - has had me thinking back to the time when I became a mother for the first time, and the second time.  I remember both births very clearly, even after all the years.  They were very different.  Tara took her sweet time, even if she came way too early!  and Tanya - once we were told it was okay to have a baby - came quite quickly.  Both girls were the most beautiful babies ever born and through the years have brought me much joy.  And now as I wait to be a Grandma, I am blessed to have 2 of the greatest daughters, girls I am so so proud of.

I am looking so forward to watching Tanya and Andre parent their new bundle - and to watch Tara be the best Auntie ever!

Can you tell I am excited?

A Rude Awakening and Just Plain Rude People

A Rude Awakening

This morning shortly after 6:00 am, while sleeping peacefully, we were rudely awakened by a loud noise.  The only way we can explain the noise is the sound of a cel phone on vibrate on a wood surface, vibrating, but amplified, loud.  Phil jumped up and ran to our rather large collection of phones and checked them all.  Not one of them was set on vibrate.  And still, at regular intervals the noise reoccured.  We checked all our computers, tvs, clocks, appliances, everything our foggy 6:00 am brains could comprehend and still the annoying noise continued.  I say it was in the wall, but what do i know!

Just Plain Rude People

At 6:24 ish (ok I looked at the clock, I confess), someone yelled, (we can only assume by what happened next it was the lady downstairs) and then the lady downstairs turned on her stereo and blasted it!  I mean so loud that the annoucers voices were shaking things on my china cabinet.  We could hear the traffic report and sing along with the music, if we had cared to.  I jumped up and down on the floor, yes i know not the most mature response, but it did make me feel a bit better.  And then fiqured, what the heck, I was up anyways, might as well have a shower.

While I was in the shower Phil called the landlady - yes that is right - he called the landlady before 7 am and let her listen to the music with us.  She told Phil she would call the lady downstairs.  Shortly thereafter, the music stopped.

Oddly enough - once the music started the noise stopped.  I am wondering if it was something outside, or dare I say it -   something in the suite downstairs?

Needless to say - our rude awakening and just plain rude people (or should I say person) got our morning off to a weird start!

The Long and Horrid Week - thank goodness it is over!

Have you ever had a week that you wished would just go away?  Well I just had one of those.  It didnt seem to matter how hard I tried things went wrong.  Nothing I set my hand to seemed to go smoothly.  It felt like a nightmare that would never end.   Well thankfully it did!  Friday came and I was able to just walk out of the office.

I got to have dinner with my two favorite men, Phil and Brian and then we went to Tanya and Andres's and  played Guillotine and Millle Bornes.  It was the best therapy ever!

We had called Tara and Chris to join us but they were having a date night - celebrating a year since their first date, such romantics!  I hope they had a great evening!

Thanks guys for being the anti-week!  I love my family!
